Mental Health: Chapters 1, 2, 8, and 9
 Define health and describe its importance. Relate self-esteem to your health. Learn the steps to effective decision making. Define stress and identify stresses in your life. Determine ways to cope with stress.

Body Systems: Chapters 15, 16, 17, and 18 
Describe the structure and function of the, Skeletal Cardiovascular, Muscular Respiratory, Nervous Digestive and Endocrine Urinary.

Fitness: Chapters 3, 4 and 26
Describe how exercise affects your body’s systems. Discuss the benefits of exercise. Explain the basic components of physical fitness. Develop an exercise program. Describe the dangers of anabolic steroids.

Nutrition: Chapters 5 and 6
Define nutrients and their food sources. Name the five food groups and the recommended rang of servings for each. Discuss the information found on a nutrition information label. Explain calories and how they effect body weight Discuss how to gain and lose weight safely. Define eating disorders and contrast anorexia nervosa and bulimia.

Family Life Education: Chapters 19,20,21,29 and 30
Describe the structure and functions of the male and female reproductive systems. Learn the stages of development from conception to birth. Explore the pregnancy alternatives (raising a child, adoption and abortion). Discuss marriage and teen parenting. Explain the reasons to choose abstinence. Describe the symptoms, treatments and dangers of sexu8ally transmitted diseases. Define HIV and Aids. Discuss the myths and facts associated with HIV and AIDS.

Drugs: Chapters 24, 25, and 26
Discuss the immediate and long-term effects of tobacco use. Discuss second hand smoke and non-smoker’s rights. Explain the effects of alcohol on the human body. Discuss the effects of drinking and driving. List the three stages of alcoholism. Describe the effects of drugs on a person’s health. Discuss the different categories and classifications of drugs. Explain the risks of misuse and abuse the psychoactive and other dangerous drugs.

First Aid Red Cross Standard First Aid:
Define first aid. Perform the steps in rescues breathing CPR. Describe how to help a choking victim. Recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack. List and perform the steps to control bleeding.
